”In November 1950 the U. S. Eighth Army was executing a pincer movement that General Douglas MacArthur believed would quickly end the Korean War. Instead, the Americans walked into an overwhelming force of Red Chinese attackers. Cut off, outnumbered, the GIs desperately fought for their lives against overwhelming enemy forces, using rocks and rifle butts when they had no more bullets to shoot. Forced into withdrawal, the men of the Eighth Army began a bitter retreat – but their ordeal had only begun. The enemy was waiting with a deadly trap, and the route to freedom would be paved with blood, courage, and heroism.”
